The Overcoming Divisions project was created to open a dialogue between LGBT+ communities and Two-Spirit communities established in the Baie-des-Chaleurs region, on unceded Mi’gmaq territory. This project aspires to empower and celebrate Two-Spirit identities through a booklet that showcases testimonies and photos of Two-Spirit individuals from Gesgapegiag and Listuguj, as well as a toolkit featuring different resources.

Coming out, unveiling, coming out of the closet, and transitioning are many of the terms used to address the disclosure of one's sexual orientation or gender identity to those around one.
This key moment of self-affirmation in front of others is a complex and difficult process that lesbian (L), gay (G), bisexual (B), transgender (T), questioning or queer (Q) people go through in interaction with their environment, which is sometimes made up of people who are unfamiliar with the realities experienced by LGBTQ+ people.
The main objective of this project was to better understand the experiences of LGBTQ+ youth and their loved ones during disclosure. This will allow us to better sensitize the people around LGBTQ+ youth so that they can be better supported during this crucial time.
